The Mariachi Tradicional Cocoteros quintet comprises talented young musicians from the Mexican state of Colima. Dressed in traditional costumes, and playing musical instruments typical of the western region of the country, they will have audiences vibrating to the traditional rhythms of Mexican culture. Thanks to the support of the Office Québec-Amériques pour la Jeunesse, their presence on stage and their energy are the perfect ingredients to celebrate and rediscover the music of the Mariachis. In addition, the artistic work of these young musicians includes a musical research element with a view to promoting and preserving traditional Mexican music.

African music is characterized by ever present rhythms often linked to dance. It is heard at fairs, but also at ceremonies, such as christenings, marriages, initiations, healings and funerals... The music is played in time with nature. It is the very expression of social and everyday life. It has ties to the spoken language and allows for story-telling and recounting the events of daily life, but also to communicate with the great beyond. Africa is a universe where rhythm is magical. On the program for this workshop, Fashion shows: far from a simple notion of appearance, African fashion is a vision at the boundary of dream and a certain reality; Dance demonstrations: music and dance are an integral part of tradition and daily life. These dances of the soil are an inevitable reality of the Congolese universe: African hair braiding demonstration: braiding is generally seen as a way of enhancing attractiveness. Sometimes pearls or cowries are introduced to heighten the effect; Food tasting: participants can savour African delicacies.
